Weekly Summaries

Week 4 Summary

This week in ds106 has probably been my favorite so far. I have always had an interest in photography, so all the photography assignments this week were very interesting and valuable to me.

This week, I completed 12 stars worth of visual assignments. The assignments I completed, were the Bucket List Photography Assignment, a Collage of my Pet, You’re Doing it Wrong, and A-Z Photo Collage. I also did the Old Photo daily create,

and posted an Emophoto.

I created a paranormal image, participated in the 20-minute photoblitz, and talked about cinematography in the Bride of Frankenstein.

Finally, I thought about the visuals of storytelling, and wrote a blog post about it.

A busy and challenging week as usual, but a fun one as well!

Week 3 Summary

Week 3 was another good week in ds106! We had a lot of different assignments, which allowed me to to delve into many different categories of work.

This week I completed 3 daily creates. This included cheering Kelsey up,

captioning a picture,

and talking about timelessness.

This week I completed 8 stars worth of writing assignments. I completed Welcome to Paradise, my Bucket List, and Extra! Extra! Read All About It. I created an introduction from my horror host, Edward Creeper, and created the required blog categories and arranged them to look as organized as possible.

Finally, I completed the Shape of Stories assignment and read two horror stories and completed the responses.

Overall, it was a busy, but fun, week!

Week 2 Summary

Week 2 of DS106 was quite exhausting, but was another fun week filled with unique assignments. This week, I customized my blog and added in all of the recommended plugins. I can already tell a big difference with these installed (especially Jetpack).

I found that the assignment bank was the most fun assignment that we had this week, as I enjoyed looking through all of the different prompts to find the ones that I figured I could do best. My 8 stars worth of assignments this week included: colorizing a photo,

describing freshman move-in, and creating a collage of places nearby.

BeFunky Collage

The daily creates this week I found a bit challenging, but overall I found that they were a good mix of different assignments using different mediums. The daily creates that I did this week were Project Seen, adding something to toast, and showing off a neat place.

This week we also had to watch some videos dealing with horror and dolls. My write-up of these videos can be found here.

Finally, we also had to read a couple of articles dealing with digital storytelling, and Slender Man. The write-up can be found here.

All in all, it was a good week, and I look forward to what lies ahead in DS106.

Week 1 Summary

This first week in ds106 has been very interesting to me, especially using the theme of ‘horror’. I am not one that usually is very interested in anything having to do with horror, but I found the videos and assignments fun to research and complete.

This week I completed my introductions and the scary story assignment.

I found that setting up my blog was harder than I thought it would be, as there were many steps to go through to get it looking decently (there are still many improvements that I need to make soon, as well). I found that completing the introductions was easier than I thought it would be, since there are so many different ways you can form a simple introduction using different social media sites. I really enjoyed watching Creepshow, and exploring the topic of horror in more depth than I am used to. I also enjoyed the scary story aspect.

I am very much looking forward to what the rest of this semester brings for ds106!
